Made of two sub departments – ESG Data & Analytical tools and ESG Analytics – the ESG Data and Analytics teams in MESGS are responsible for sourcing, extracting, standardizing, and verifying all ESG data that power every MESG product and derive analytical insight on these data in order to generate assessments and opinions across the five Business Lines. The ESG Data and Analytical Tools department develops and maintains analytic logic and tools used by MESG analysts. By developing sophisticated machine learning and quantitative methods, the team also leads initiatives to create business-wide operational efficiencies. The ESG Analytics team delivers analytical and production capacity in a centralized manner to meet the needs of all MESG’s business lines. In addition to conducting analytical work team members serve as Subject Matter Experts regarding ESG data, analytics and opinion. Role/Responsibilities
The Senior Associate – Quality Management is expert on at least one sector, one theme, and on Moody’s ESG (MESG) Rating Framework. The Senior Associate – Quality Management produces, controls and plans quality assurance (QA) on research linked to their sectors and themes of expertise, while contributing to the visibility of this expertise for internal and external clients as well as handling complaints from issuers. Responsibilities:
  • Entertain and develop teams’ ESG knowledge on associated performances, controversies, emerging trends, and challenges
  • Answer to internal and external requests (methodology questions, answer to bid tender, projects, etc)
  • Conduct quality controls on research conducted within the division and ensure the respect of quality standards relating to MESG rating
  • Produce research according to MESG processes and quality process standards
  • Organise and administrate necessary training to raise and maintain awareness of the teams in charge on quality targets and quality controls processes
  • Train and tutor new members in the quality assurance team and coordinate their progresses towards autonomy as well as ensure refresh sessions for members of the team.
  • Support the continuous improvement of our tools, processes and methodology for maintaining our quality standards and improving the efficiency of our activities
  • Control (through random selection: QA3 and QA4) application of the quality process, guidelines, and tools
  • Ensure that relevant documentation regarding quality process, guidelines and tools is maintained by those identified as responsible for doing so (example: “feedback management VF.xlsx”)
  • Organize consultation to identify best practices inside and outside ESG Analytics and pain points that need to be fixed regarding quality management
  • Validate errata and follow-up their progress until their delivery
  • Based on the analysis or errata and of feedback received from different stakeholders regarding our quality management, develop opportunity note for continuous improvement of process, guidelines and/or tools and manage the associated project to implement these improvements, with their ad-hoc stakeholders and in liaison with the QPM – ESG.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or experience in related discipline (Sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), Sustainable Finance)
  • Have a strong interest in ESG, CSR, Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) and/or sustainable development.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • project management skills on research / ESG content
  • Demonstrated autonomy and expert research process knowledge of ESG Research
  • Excellent English Language skills (working language). Knowledge of other languages is desirable, but not a requirement.
  • Ability to work autonomously, under the supervision and support of a team
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrate a can-do’ attitude, with pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and critical thinking
  • Demonstrate time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate communication and writing skills – ability to synthesise and report information in a clear and accurate way, respecting quality expectations.
