ROLE SUMMARY The purpose of the role is to be accountable for providing financial analysis, performing the Month End Close, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, intercompany accounting support, to resolve internal customer queries on behalf of SCJ and our Egypt entities, provide finance business partnering to the local country and liaising across multiple functions, and to actively support the Associate Manager in both routine tasks and process improvements RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure accounting process performs to Service Level Agreements within the SSC: Performing activities including, but not limited to:
  • Ensuring the appropriate controls are operational in order to maintain the quality and integrity of financial information, ensuring consistency of process across EMEA
  • Ensure that financial statements are kept in accordance with US GAAP and all appropriate records are maintained
  • Performing month end tasks within close period
  • Responsible for recording, contolling and clearing bank entries
  • Performing analysis of balance sheet accounts to identify accounting discrepancies and provide input on resolutions
  • Ensure that all internal controls, financial policies and procedures established by GIA are being followed
  • Develop and maintain internal/external audit and SOAR documentation as it relates to the role. Further, act as liaison between internal/external auditors and business partners during reviews and audits
  • Responsible for ensuring all tasks are being completed accurately within deadlines
  • Resolving country queries and maintain an open and professional relationship with both the local country and HQ
  • Identify process improvements with emphasis on streamlining and/or improving controls within accounting through using LEAN methodology
  • Raising intercompany invoices, cash allocation and reconciliation for intercompany accounts
  • Analysis of Goods Receipt Account, including monitoring and reconciling any aged items
  • Fixed Asset Accounting
  • CO-PA transactions and reconciliations
  • Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate calibre ideally in business/finance or equivalent
  • Experience of monthly closing, balance sheets, month end reporting, accruals and reconciliation, able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of SAP CO Module
  • Experience of Business Warehouse, BPC or similar ERP system
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Accounting department experience in a medium to large size company
  • Awareness of internal controls and SOX
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive in anticipating problems when they occur
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, able to self-evaluate work and create culture of continuous improvement
  • Able to work independently and with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with colleagues of various levels and disciplines within a cross-functional organisation
  • Good motivation, judgment and communication skills
  • Manage ad-hoc requests from the senior management at Platform, Regional and local level
  • Understanding of local statutory and taxes
DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • Be a self-starter who is flexible in their approach to tasks / projects
  • Finalist or studying either CIMA / ACCA / ACA
  • Experience of working with multiple currencies
  • Project management and presentation skills
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to quickly develop relationship with others
  • Strong previous experience of working within an accounting department for a multi-national organisation
  • Experienced in Lean, Six Sigma or other recognized process excellence methodology.
  • You need to be legally eligible to work in country of application.
