Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced

Senior Accountant

to join our finance team within a reputable UAE-based contracting company. The ideal candidate will have

10-13 years of progressive accounting experience

, including

4-5 years in a senior role

, with a strong focus on

accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting

in the

contracting or construction sector

. This role is responsible for managing the full spectrum of financial operations, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, and providing insights into project financial performance and cost management.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & Receivables

Oversee AP/AR functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections. Verify supplier invoices against contractual terms and approve for payment. Reconcile AP/AR ledgers and maintain up-to-date financial records. Liaise with project managers to ensure proper client invoicing and resolve collection issues.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with

UAE and IFRS

standards. Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports. Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and cost-saving opportunities. Provide actionable financial insights to support management in strategic decisions.

Contracting Industry Focus

Manage

project-based accounting

including job costing, revenue recognition, milestone billing, and retention tracking. Track project financials accurately and ensure alignment with contract terms. Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely and accurate financial documentation and reporting.

Audit & Compliance

Support internal and external audit processes with accurate documentation and timely responses. Ensure compliance with

UAE VAT, tax laws

, and local financial regulations. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to optimize accounting processes and systems. Drive implementation of best practices and support continual process enhancements.

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor junior accountants and finance support staff. Foster cross-functional collaboration with procurement, operations, and project teams to enhance financial coordination.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor's degree in

Accounting, Finance, or a related field

.

Professional certification

(CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.

Experience

10-15 years of accounting experience, with at least 4-5 years in a

senior accounting role

. Prior experience in the

contracting or construction industry in the UAE

is essential. Strong background in

AP/AR, project costing, and financial reporting

.

Skills

In-depth knowledge of

UAE financial regulations

, accounting standards, and construction industry practices. Proficient in accounting software (e.g.,

QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems

). Strong analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
