Job purpose:
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of accounts, leading budgeting processes, and managing complex financial information. In addition to ensuring compliance and accuracy, you will provide strategic financial advice, support decision-making, and guide junior staff. You may also play a key role in advising and assisting clients with advanced financial planning and regulatory requirements.
Job responsibilities:
Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Supervise vendor and supplier payments across all channels, reviewing supporting documentation and ensuring compliance.
Manage and monitor petty cash transactions, establishing controls and reviewing reconciliations.
Review and approve invoices, receipts, and LPOs prepared for clients and suppliers.
Ensure financial data confidentiality, conduct regular database backups, and strengthen internal controls.
Enforce compliance with financial policies, regulations, and accounting standards.
Produce and review error-free accounting reports, presenting insights and recommendations to management.
Analyze complex financial information, summarize financial status, and provide variance analysis.
Act as a key point of contact for clients, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Prepare and review asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Oversee documentation of financial transactions and ensure accuracy in system entries.
Monitor and reconcile all transactions (inflows/outflows), including bank statements and credit card accounts.
Safeguard financial information through secure systems and compliance with confidentiality standards.
Substantiate and validate financial transactions by auditing supporting documents.
Supervise payroll accounting for drivers and riders, ensuring accuracy in salary disbursement.
Oversee COD collections and reconciliations with riders and shops.
Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and delegate tasks effectively.
Manage cash deposits and withdrawals, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
Lead VAT return procedures and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Oversee registration of all transactions through the Zoho system (receivables and payables).
Maintain and monitor fixed assets, prepayments, and depreciation schedules.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within accounting workflows.
Perform other duties as delegated by Management, with a focus on leadership and strategic contribution.
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
Minimum 3-6 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Strong expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Experience managing multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.
Advanced proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Zoho, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff, and manage complex workflows.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Bilingual proficiency (English and Arabic) is an asset.
