We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Senior Accountant
to manage and oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in UAE accounting practices, excellent English communication skills, and the ability to independently handle routine finance functions, including VAT compliance, reconciliations, reporting, and petty cash management. Experience in the
construction, contracting, or fit-out sector
will be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily accounting operations, including journal entries, accounts payable & receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare, maintain, and review accurate financial records, ledgers, and statements in compliance with UAE accounting standards.
Handle petty cash, employee expense claims, and reimbursements with proper documentation and controls.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure full compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations.
Record, verify, and reconcile supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, and customer collections.
Maintain inventory records, project cost tracking, and basic job costing related to construction and fit-out projects.
Support monthly and year-end closing processes, including accruals, adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist in audit preparation by providing required documentation and responding to auditor queries.
Manage bank correspondence, cheque processing, and online payments.
Support payroll data preparation and WPS uploads as required.
Prepare accurate and timely financial and management reports.
Coordinate with procurement, site, and administrative teams to ensure accuracy in billing, payments, and documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
6-8 years of accounting experience in the UAE
, preferably in construction, contracting, or fit-out industry.
Strong knowledge of
UAE VAT regulations
, accounting entries, and reconciliations.
Proficiency in
MS Excel
and accounting software such as
QuickBooks, Tally, Zoho
, or similar systems.
Good written and verbal communication skills in
English
(Arabic is an advantage).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
