Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

A construction company finance manager is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. They manage the finance team, ensure accurate financial reporting for multiple projects, and provide strategic financial insights to leadership to support decision-making and cost control.

Key responsibilities

Financial planning and analysis:

Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, conduct variance analysis, and interpret financial data to provide strategic guidance.

Financial reporting:

Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, manage the general ledger, and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Project finance:

Manage the financial aspects of multiple construction projects, including budget oversight, cost review, and ensuring contracts are valid.

Internal controls:

Develop, implement, and ensure the effectiveness of financial systems, policies, and internal controls across the company.

Stakeholder communication:

Liaise and communicate with various stakeholders, including internal departments, leadership, auditors, and external parties like contractors.

Team management:

Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team to ensure high-quality performance and professional development.

Compliance:

Stay up-to-date on financial regulations and best practices to ensure organizational compliance.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A professional certification like CPA or ACCA is often preferred. Strong experience in accounting, especially in a project-based or construction environment, is essential. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary. Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills are crucial for the role.
