We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Senior Accountant
to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting and financial management functions, with a particular focus on the construction and contracting sector. This role requires strong analytical abilities, sound knowledge of project accounting, and an in-depth understanding of industry-specific financial practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards (IFRS).
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, budgets, and cash flow reports.
Maintain and reconcile project accounts, including tracking costs, revenues, variations, and progress billings for ongoing projects.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, subcontractor payments, retention releases, and client invoicing.
Monitor cost control and project expenditure, ensuring alignment with project budgets and timelines.
Prepare and review bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger postings.
Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and project reporting.
Support the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Liaise with external auditors, consultants, and financial institutions when required.
Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws, WPS, and other financial regulations.
Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in
Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
(Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is an advantage).
Minimum of
8-10 years of accounting experience
, with at least
5 years in a construction or contracting company
in the GCC.
Strong knowledge of project accounting, cost control, revenue recognition, and progress billing.
Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (such as Oracle, Tally, QuickBooks, or SAP).
Excellent understanding of UAE VAT, IFRS, and local financial regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in contract cost monitoring, subcontractor reconciliation, and retention accounting.
Ability to interpret contracts and apply financial implications effectively.
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with project and operations teams.
