Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for handling VAT-related activities, bank coordination, cheque management, audit support, AML compliance, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting functions. The role requires strong knowledge of UAE VAT & Corporate Tax regulations and the ability to liaise with Arabic-speaking stakeholders effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare VAT calculations and file VAT returns on time.
  • Handle VAT refund applications and follow up with tax consultants.
  • Arrange all supporting documents required for VAT refund claims.
  • Reconcile VAT-related General Ledger (GL) accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE Corporate Tax laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Leasing team for AML reviews.
  • Conduct UN and Local Sanctions checks for each tenant.
  • Maintain AML verification templates and ensure proper documentation.
  • Liaise with banks for fund transfers, deposits, renewals, etc.
  • Update Know Your Customer (KYC) documents as required.
  • Ensure timely deposit of cheques and maintain detailed records.
  • Prepare daily deposit summaries and share them with the Operations Team.
  • Receive and verify cheques from the Leasing team against contracts.
  • Follow up on holding cheques, partial, and settlement payments.
  • Maintain reports such as:
  • Monthly collection report
  • Cheque return report
  • Bounced cheque report (with legal status)
  • Uncollected cheque report
  • Update bounced cheque details to the concerned teams.
  • Review monthly project-wise expense reports.
  • Prepare monthly income and expense reports for managed properties.
  • Support in creating occupancy and rental income reports for audits.
  • Review rental income ledgers and identify discrepancies.
  • Provide comparison reports of income vs. expense.
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors, tax auditors, and bank representatives.
  • Respond to audit queries and provide accurate documentation.
  • Assist with year-end closing and legal reporting of bounced cheques.
  • Verify payment memos and review bank reconciliations.
  • Process salaries using Al Ansari portal.
  • Check salary sheets and tenant refund calculations.
  • Post accounting entries related to VAT, bounced cheques, and provisions.
  • Prepare MIS reports as needed.
  • Manage cheque custody and verify tenant deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal closing deadlines.
  • Support operational, legal, engineering, and leasing teams with financial data.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by Finance Manager, AGM, Operations Manager, Legal Department, or Project Engineers.
Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in financial reporting and reconciliation
  • Fluent in Arabic and English (written and spoken)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in handling AML and compliance checks
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA) preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience in the UAE
  • Experience with property management or leasing companies is an advantage
  • Knowledge of ERP/accounting systems and banking portals (e.g., Al Ansari)
