Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with proven experience in the E-commerce / On-Demand Delivery industry (such as Talabat, Careem, Deliveroo, or similar platforms). The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting business growth through accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, and reconciliations. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely closing of books, review journal entries, and oversee revenue/cost recognition. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements. E-commerce / Delivery-Specific Accounting Handle complex revenue recognition models (commission-based, subscription, delivery charges, discounts, promotions, refunds). Reconcile high-volume transactions from payment gateways, wallets, and partner settlements. Track partner/vendor payouts and manage disputes related to commissions, refunds, or chargebacks. Analyze customer incentives, loyalty programs, and marketing spend to ensure proper accounting treatment. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with local tax laws (VAT ) Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities. Maintain and enforce internal controls and financial policies. Business Partnering & Analysis Provide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making. Support FP&A with variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Partner with operations, commercial, and product teams to optimize cost efficiency. Identify process improvement opportunities in accounting and financial workflows.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/ACCA/CA is an advantage. 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in the E-commerce / On-Demand Delivery / Tech-enabled services industry. Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems (Oracle, Zoho or similar). Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume transaction environment.

Preferred Industry Experience:

Prior experience in food delivery, ride-hailing, marketplace, or fintech payment reconciliation. Understanding of commission models, partner/vendor settlements, and promotional expense accounting.
