Role Description

This is a full-time on-site Senior Accountant role located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the company's financial integrity. This includes maintaining tight control of company accounts, supervising junior accounting staff, implementing financial controls to support strategic decision-making and preparation of year-end accounts closing. Role is open to Expats and Domestic applicants.

Job description

Supervise junior accountants and data entry clerks to ensure accurate posting of entries Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger postings Prepare accurate MIS reports for management Assist in procurement and dealing with creditors Prepare and monitor actuals vs. budget and provide variance explanations Oversee costing of products and optimize costing processes Oversee and conduct bank reconciliations for all accounts on a scheduled basis Reconcile vendor, customer, and intercompany accounts Perform year-end closing of books, ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with IFRS Prepare data for tax audits, returns, and filings and coordinate with auditors To maintain accounts for directors and other sources of income for reporting to TRA Collaborate with inventory team to ensure tight control and valuation Monitor and keep payables and receivables in check Ensure compliance with local tax laws, VAT filings, and statutory obligations (VAT, NSSF, PAYE, SDL etc) Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes Recommend automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy Analyze & Flag potential risks in liquidity, solvency, profitability and recommend preventive measures Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and business planning Enforce and enhance internal financial controls and accounting policies
Hard Skills

Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Financial Analysis skills Knowledge of tax regulations Proficiency in using Tally Prime Proficiency with Excel and Macros is a plus Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR ACCA certification (9+ papers) (other certifications accepted eg CPA, CMA) Minimum experience required: 3 years
