The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. They play a key role in managing accounting operations, supporting audits, and assisting in financial reporting and planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Document financial transactions by entering account information
Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Secure financial information by completing database backups
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Provide technical support and advice on management
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
Provide input into department's goal setting process
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
Plan, assign, and review staff's work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Communicate effectively with clients/suppliers.
Communicate with Manager and/or Director on work status and client issues that arise
Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Secures financial information by completing database backups.
If there is any important work during long vacations or government holidays, you need to support the work for the smooth running of the company operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in accounting or finance roles.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards (GAAP, IFRS), and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with financial modeling and data analysis.
Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance.
Experience in auditing or working closely with auditors.
Advanced Excel skills.
