Senior Accountant - Construction Industry

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced

Senior Accountant

with a strong background in the

construction sector

to manage and oversee daily accounting operations, project-related financial activities, and ensure compliance with company policies and UAE regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in project costing, WIP (work-in-progress) reporting, subcontractor payments, and financial analysis within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Handle

project costing, job costing, and WIP (Work in Progress) schedules

. Monitor and control project budgets, expenses, and cost allocations. Verify subcontractor invoices, supplier bills, and ensure timely payments. Manage

retention, advance payments, and variation orders

as per construction contracts. Coordinate with project managers to track project profitability and cash flows. Ensure compliance with

VAT laws and UAE labour/finance regulations

. Supervise junior accountants and provide guidance on accounting procedures. Assist in external and internal audits by providing necessary documentation. Prepare financial reports for management decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA/ACCA preferred). Minimum

5-7 years of accounting experience

, with at least

3 years in the construction industry

in the UAE/GCC. Strong knowledge of

construction project accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, and cost control

. Familiarity with

ERP/accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or equivalent)

. Solid understanding of

UAE VAT regulations

and compliance. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED10,000.00 per month
