Maintain accurate and up-to-date registers of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
Prepare laboratory experiments and practical activities in coordination with the Head of Science and Science teachers.
Ensure science laboratories are well organised, clean, and ready for use, working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff.
Monitor laboratory equipment and promptly report any breakages, damage, or safety concerns to the Head of Science.
Support and uphold all laboratory safety procedures in collaboration with the Science Department.
Assist in preparing the annual inventory and procurement list for consumables, glassware, and laboratory equipment in conjunction with the Head of Science.
Ensure laboratories are securely locked when not in use.
Adhere to all GEMS policies, procedures, safeguarding requirements, and codes of conduct at all times.
Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by contributing additional effort beyond normal working hours when required to support departmental activities.
Skills
Previous experience working as a Laboratory Technician, preferably within a secondary school or educational setting.
Sound knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and safe handling procedures.
Familiarity with preparing and supporting practical experiments for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Understanding of laboratory health and safety standards and risk assessments.
