Seamanship Training Manager Grade: GG12 Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Naval Forces ships and train RSNF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their ships and equipment. The purpose of this job is to ensure that the highest standards of seamanship training are delivered, maintained and achieved at the Technical Institute of Naval Studies. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The post holder is responsible for: management of their direct report and overseeing the management and wellbeing of other team members within their area of responsibility; responsible for the maintenance of Seamanship standards throughout BEAS SDT seamanship staff and instructors at The Technical Institute of Naval Studies (TINS); following RSNF seamanship policy and procedures; manage seamanship and marina resources (Personnel and Equipment), to meet the training remit, ensuring assets are effectively and economically utilized within policy and governance; train recruits in Seamanship so that all Basic Skills Training (BST) and Naval Specialist School (NSS)requirements and objectives are effectively and economically met; manage/monitor/develop the progress of new training projects and the introduction of new equipment to meet current and future training needs (Marina/Pontoons/Davits/FX/Ax trainers); oversee the conduct of induction/staff endorsement and annual evaluations of all seamanship staff at TINS; ensuring completion in accordance with approved organisational procedures; to monitor progress of those under training and oversee completion of the required course documentation; establishing a 'trusted partner' relationship with BAES SDT's Customer and help satisfy their needs; ensuring that all policies and procedures required as part of BAES SDT's regulatory and accreditation requirements are applied; ensuring that processes and procedures for the application of BAES SDT's Training Solutions Framework and effective Training Governance are applied; act as BAE SDT's SME for all seamanship relevant curriculum and training including but not limited to Replenishment At Sea (RAS), Part Of Ship (POS) training/Boats/Anchoring/Sea Sense training; contributing (with the other TINS executives) to meeting the requirements of BAE Systems-wide corporate policies, including Gifts and Hospitality, Ethical Behaviour and the Code of Conduct; providing the Head of trainings, and other Senior Managers with reports and other feedback to improve service performance and responsiveness, resolve customer issues, and/or identify opportunities across the organization; RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION The post holder must: Hold a current STCW II/1 qualified or better (Standards of Training Certificate and Watchkeeping.) have extensive experience in a similar role and have demonstrated significant communications, networking, project management and cultural awareness experience and competence; have deep knowledge and understanding of Seamanship training including Training Governance policies, procedures and safety. have knowledge and understanding of Training Lifecycle Management processes; have knowledge and understanding of project management and reporting requirements; have experience in instructor evaluation; have programming and planning experience, preferably in a training environment; be aware of Export Control Requirements and may be required to handle Export Controlled/ITAR Data. The post holder is required to interface directly with the RSNF Customer and other agencies, as well as staff at all levels in other departments; therefore, the following skills are required: stakeholder management; leadership experience with proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary staff.
