Job Description

The Scrap Yard Officer is responsible to oversee the management, segregation, documentation, and proper disposal or recycling of scrap materials generated by estate engineering, maintenance, and operational activities. The Scrap Yard Officer ensures the safe handling and accurate recordkeeping of scrapped items, in compliance with UAE environmental, safety, and disposal regulations, while supporting sustainable waste management practices within the estate.

JOB LOCATION: FUJAIRAH, UAE

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Management (preferred). Certification in Waste Management, Material Handling, or HSE Practices is an advantage. Basic knowledge of UAE waste disposal regulations and municipality guidelines (required). Valid UAE Driving License is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

2-4 years of experience in scrap handling, warehouse/stores, asset disposal, or facilities maintenance, ideally in the engineering, construction, or estate operations sector. Experience working in private estates, industrial sites, or logistics yards is a plus. Familiarity with metal, electrical, mechanical scrap types and material identification.

KEY SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Scrap Management & Sorting

Identifying, classifying, and segregating different types of scrap (e.g., electrical, metal, mechanical, wood, consumables). Tagging and labeling materials for tracking and reporting. Ensuring reusable parts are recovered before disposal.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintaining logs of scrapped materials with quantity, source, and disposal method. Assisting in preparing asset disposal forms, gate passes, and scrap release documentation. Ensuring proper documentation for audit, reporting, or inventory reconciliation purposes.

Coordination & Communication

Liaising with warehouse/store teams, maintenance staff, and asset controllers for timely scrap collection. Coordinating with approved scrap vendors, municipality-approved recyclers, or estate logistics teams for collection and transport. Ensuring third-party contractors comply with estate safety and entry protocols.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Strictly adhering to safety protocols while handling sharp, heavy, or hazardous materials. Ensuring the scrapyard area is clean, well-organized, and free from hazards. Supporting sustainability and recycling initiatives in line with estate/environmental goals.

Inventory Awareness

Understanding the difference between obsolete, damaged, and scrap-eligible items. Helping to prevent accidental scrapping of usable assets through accurate tagging and double-checking with supervisors.

Physical Fitness & Efficiency

Physically capable of lifting and moving materials as needed. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and personal accountability in a high-responsibility environment.
