Job Description

Role Purpose: Developing and implementing the overall Operations strategy for the organization including production, engineering, and maintenance management, to enable growth and effective fulfillment as per the sales strategy. Also responsible for understanding the leading practices in the industry, to continuously improve and achieve capacity, productivity, and cost-effectiveness targets. Production Planning & Control Institute and maintain the overall mechanism for ensuring cross-functional collaboration, for execution of the sales order to final order dispatch process with higher accuracy, proactiveness and least lead time possible. Review the weekly production plans for all production units of the organization, and guide the team in resolving challenges, minimizing ad-hoc changes, and maintaining high operational efficiencies. Collaborate with other department heads to facilitate a process-bound and smooth coordination between production units and other relevant departments for raw materials, consumables, dispatch, etc. Production MIS Guide the team in developing and maintaining the most relevant framework of production reports and analytics, which are enabled by high level of automation and ERP implementation. Review and analyze the overall production and operational efficiencies to review progress as per department\'s objectives, alignment to organization\'s strategic objectives and for making recommendations to CEO for decision making. Maintenance Coordination Review the overall preventive maintenance framework and alignment to plant availability, downtime, and operational efficiencies objectives. Guide the team to resolve major issues impacting the overall factory production or challenges spanning multiple production units. Optimization Projects Identify best practices, then review, approve and monitor the implementation of all optimization projects across the production units, including modification of manufacturing process, productivity improvements, lead time decrease, engineering, and manufacturing cost management projects, etc. to deliver specific value addition to the organization. Lead and guide the team in implementing projects related to plant expansion, upgradation, or installation of specialized machinery, to enable achievement of operations objectives of the organization. New Product Development Review and approve new product development projects as part of a cross-functional committee, while presenting the operations perspective for feasibility analysis and future value add. Evaluate and approve the resource planning and deputation for new product development projects and monitor the periodic progress of such projects. Operational Excellence Work with business planning and operational excellence team to lead adoption of new technology/ tools for operations. Work with support services head to improve collaboration and contribution to operations. Develop and implement the business continuity plan for operations, to identify and manage operational risks. Infrastructure Management Work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure adequate capability development (skills, resources, infrastructure, etc.) for effective support to production units and enablement of operations business objectives. Strategy & Operational Business Plans Formulate and implement the operations (production, engineering & maintenance) strategy in line with KHK\'s vision, strategic (3-5 year) and business (1-3 year) plans. Ensure that strategy is translated into annual functional objectives for KHK. Monitor team\'s initiatives, to ensure overall adherence to the approved operations strategy and objectives. Budgets and Plans Recommend the department budget, and monitor performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of forecast; areas of underperformance are identified and opportunities to improve performance are capitalized upon. Participate in the development and roll out of workforce planning and forecasting activity, ensuring that the department is sufficiently resourced. Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures Design and implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, to ensure work is completed out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a best-in-class service. Manage cost-efficient utilization of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense. Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment (QHSE) Adhere to all relevant QHSSE procedures, instructions and controls so that the organization provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people. Aware of HSE policies Should be committed to HSE rules Aware of emergency procedures Should work safely and report unsafe conditions Leadership/ People Management/ Supervision of Subordinates Organize and supervise the activities and work of direct reports to ensure that all work within a specific team is completed to the required standards and in line with organization\'s operating policies and procedures. Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to direct reports to support their overall development. Manage the team by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training, and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence. Continuous Improvement Motivate team and contribute towards identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across one\xe2\x80\x99s scope of work, to achieve the organization\'s mission, vision and strategy. Share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization. Change Management Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect best practices and changes in the competitive environment. Operating Environment: The job holder is responsible for shaping the future direction of the Operations department and ensuring the department delivers on results in present. The job holder is responsible for a 24/6 manufacturing environment, which makes the job always demanding. The job holder is expected to spend time beyond the normal working hours since the job deals with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Decision Making: The jobholder is expected to implement plans, contribute to the development of departmental level strategies, and lead their implementation. The jobholder is responsible for directing the Operations department and leading the development of performance indicators and standards for the division in line with company objectives. Key decisions having significant impact on the company are referred to the CEO / Board of Directors (relevant board committee) for approval before implementation.
