The Scaffolding Design Engineer role at Azizi Developments supports construction and temporary works activities across large-scale residential and mixed-use developments in Dubai. Role Summary
The Scaffolding Design Engineer prepares detailed scaffolding designs, calculations, and drawings to support safe access, protection, and temporary works during construction. The role involves close coordination with site teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare scaffolding designs for access scaffolds, facade scaffolds, birdcage scaffolds, shoring systems, temporary access platforms, protection fan systems, and special scaffolds
• Produce General Arrangement drawings, assembly and erection drawings, and 2D and basic 3D models
• Carry out scaffolding design calculations using standard data sheets and structural analysis software in line with BS and European codes
• Design scaffolding systems using proprietary systems as well as tube and fitting solutions
• Prepare accurate material take-offs and scaffolding schedules
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant BS and EN standards such as BS EN 12811 and BS EN 12812, project specifications, and health and safety requirements
• Apply safe-by-design principles covering erection, use, inspection, and dismantling stages
• Implement internal checking procedures and respond to design review comments in a timely manner
• Maintain proper engineering documentation, drawing registers, and design records

Project and Site Support

• Liaise with project teams, site supervisors, and scaffold contractors to understand access and protection requirements
• Provide technical support during scaffolding erection, alteration, and dismantling stages
• Attend site visits when required to assess site conditions, verify installations, and support construction teams
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain technical data, load charts, and standard system configurations

Team and Collaboration

• Work closely with formwork designers, engineers, and draftspersons within the temporary works design team
• Communicate technical information clearly through drawings, sketches, and written documentation
• Support junior designers and assistant engineers where required

Learning and Development

• Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of scaffolding systems, standards, and products
• Participate in internal training programs and supplier-led technical training
• Stay informed on changes to scaffolding regulations and industry best practices

Ideal Profile

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience in scaffolding or temporary works design within construction projects
• Strong understanding of BS and EN scaffolding standards and safe design principles
• Ability to prepare clear drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
• Good communication and coordination skills with site and design teams
