Job Title:

Salesman - Chemical Department (Retail)

Job Purpose:

To provide excellent customer service, promote and sell chemical products, maintain proper product display, assist customers with product knowledge, and ensure smooth retail operations within the chemical department.

Key Responsibilities:1. Sales & Customer Service

Greet customers and identify their needs related to chemical products. Provide accurate product information, including usage, handling, safety, and product features. Recommend suitable chemical products based on customer requirements. Process sales transactions efficiently and ensure customer satisfaction.

2. Product Knowledge & Safety

Maintain thorough knowledge of all chemical items, including technical data and safety instructions. Ensure compliance with safety guidelines when handling or demonstrating chemical products. Educate customers on safe use, storage, and disposal of chemicals.

3. Store Operations

Arrange and display products according to store layout and merchandising standards. Ensure shelves are fully stocked, clean, and properly labeled. Monitor inventory levels and report low stock or near-expiry items to the supervisor. Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries of chemical products.

4. Sales Targets & Reporting

Work towards achieving monthly/weekly sales targets. Maintain accurate sales records and prepare daily sales reports. Inform the supervisor of market trends, customer feedback, and competitor pricing.

5. Hygiene & Compliance

Follow all company policies, especially regarding chemical handling and safety. Ensure the department complies with local regulations for chemical retail. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the department at all times.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

Previous experience in retail sales (chemical or hardware store experience preferred). Basic knowledge of chemicals and their applications (industrial, cleaning, automotive, etc.). Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to handle chemical products safely and responsibly. Basic computer skills for POS and reporting. Physically fit to handle lifting and stocking duties.

Working Conditions:

Retail store environment with extended standing hours. Requires careful handling of chemical products. May require weekend or shift-based duty.
