The Safety Manager shall be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. As a key member of the management team, the Safety Manager ensures compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and client requirements while fostering a culture of safety across all project sites. This role reports directly to the General Manager and serves as a strategic advisor on safety-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
Ensure compliance with national and local occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Provide safety training, inductions, and awareness programs for staff, subcontractors, and site personnel.
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments on project sites to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Intervene and stop unsafe work activities; ensure safe working conditions before work resumes.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and supervisors to integrate safety requirements into project planning and execution.
Prepare and present HSE performance reports to the General Manager and senior leadership.
Lead incident/accident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee timely implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
Act as the primary liaison with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities on all safety-related matters.
Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels in safety initiatives.
Manage emergency preparedness and response plans across project sites.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHAD, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor) preferred.
7-10 years of relevant HSE experience in the infrastructure, construction, or contracting industry.
Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations, codes, and best practices.
Proven track record in developing and managing safety management systems (SMS).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to influence and drive a strong safety culture across the organization
