A Level 2 Technician is an intermediate operative who is proficient in rigging and executing complex rope access maneuvers. They can work more independently and are responsible for the safety of themselves and others at the work site.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform all responsibilities of a Level 1 Technician.
Rig rope access systems and perform advanced rescues.
Act as a "site safety representative" and perform toolbox talks.
Supervise and guide the work of Level 1 technicians on the ropes.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of advanced rigging and rope access techniques.
Conduct risk assessments for specific tasks under the guidance of the Level 3 Supervisor.
Manage the rope access equipment at the work site.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general supervision of an IRATA Level 3 Supervisor but can operate with more autonomy.
Required Certification & Experience:
Certification:
Valid IRATA Level 2 certificate.
Experience:
A minimum of 1,000 hours and 12 months of logged experience at Level 1 is required to sit the Level 2 course and assessment.
