A Level 1 Technician is an entry-level operative who can perform a range of rope access tasks under the direct supervision of a Level 3 Supervisor. They are primarily responsible for their own safety and assisting the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform work tasks on ropes as directed by a Level 3 Supervisor.
Conduct pre-use inspections of their personal rope access equipment.
Rig and use rope access systems under the close supervision of a higher-level technician.
Assist in the rigging and operation of the rope access system.
Implement safe working practices in accordance with the company's safety management system.
Keep their work area clean and organized.
Report any hazards or equipment defects to the Level 3 Supervisor immediately.
Supervision Received:
Must work under the direct, on-site supervision of an IRATA Level 3 Supervisor.

Valid IRATA Level 1 certificate.
Experience:
No prior rope access experience required for the initial certification (gained through a 4-5 day training course). To advance to Level 2, a minimum of 1,000 hours and 12 months of logged experience at Level 1 is required.
