The Marine Rigger will be responsible for setting up, securing, moving, and dismantling loads using cranes, hoists, and rigging gear, ensuring all work meets industry safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, lift plans, and technical drawings to determine rigging requirements.
Select and inspect lifting gear (slings, shackles, chains, spreader bars, etc.) to ensure proper capacity and condition.
Rig, lift, move, and position heavy marine components such as engines, hull sections, masts, and piping systems.
Signal crane operators and assist with load movements using hand signals or radio communication.
Perform pre-lift inspections and ensure loads are balanced, secured, and lifted safely.
Dismantle rigging equipment and properly store gear after use.
Assist with installing and removing shipboard equipment and machinery.
Follow company, OSHA, and shipyard-specific safety protocols at all times.
Maintain rigging tools, slings, and associated equipment in good working condition.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and aboard vessels in varying weather conditions.
