Job Description
: As a Retail Cashier, you will be a crucial part of our front-line team, responsible for providing efficient and friendly service to our customers during the checkout process. Your courteous and accurate handling of transactions will play a significant role in our commitment to delivering top-notch service. Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor as they approach the checkout counter.
- Accurately scan and ring up merchandise and process customer payments using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ensure that prices and product descriptions match the items being scanned.
- Handle cash, credit card, and electronic payment transactions with precision and provide change and receipts as needed.
- Answer customer inquiries and provide information about products, promotions, and store policies.
- Verify customer identification for age-restricted products, as required.
- Bag and package customers\xe2\x80\x99 purchases efficiently and offer assistance in carrying heavy items.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including cleaning and restocking bags and receipt paper.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including security and cash-handling protocols.
- Handle returns and exchanges, following store policies and guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a retail cashier.
- Strong numerical and math skills for cash handling and transactions.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain composure during busy periods.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong work ethic.
