A Linux administrator is responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of a Linux-based system and ensuring that the system is available and performing optimally.
This includes installing, configuring, and upgrading software and hardware, managing user accounts and security, monitoring system performance, and providing technical support.
Responsibilities:
Installing and configuring Linux operating systems and applications
Monitoring and maintaining system performance, security, and availability.
Managing storage, backup, and recovery systems
Managing user accounts and permissions
Automating routine tasks using scripting languages
Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
Keeping up to date with advancements in Linux technology
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration and architecture
Familiarity with various Linux distributions, such as Red Hat, Debian, and Ubuntu
Strong experience with scripting languages, such as Bash and Python
Knowledge of network protocols and network security
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Support of Red hat Enterprise Linux, AIX
Review Systems Health check, availability reports, and SLA management.
Vulnerability and Security Management for the Unix systems
System Security hardening, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
Problem Analysis & Solution.
Supporting production systems as required outside of standard working hours and participating in 24/7 on-call rotation
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and Information Systems.
IT infrastructure Systems Design, Implementation and Operations
Infrastructure Project Management
Cloud Computing, Container management
Administration of Unix /Linux Systems (Solaris, Red hat Linux and Oracle Linux)
