Job Description

Khalifa Center is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Research Associate-Greenhouse to grow and maintain the plants in the greenhouses, plant rooms, nethouses, and field (if needed) conditions and assist the research projects. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Germinating seeds, planting, irrigation, fertilization, insecticide/fungicide application, weeding, pruning, cleaning, transplanting, and maintaining various crop plants in the greenhouse, plant rooms, nethouses, and field conditions. Ability to identify problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests and perform methodologies in accordance with the project supervisors. Interested in learning new methods applicable to research projects. Monitoring of the greenhouse operation systems to ensure their proper functioning. To provide the required assistance in data collection as to the research project supervisors. Collection of seeds, accurate labeling, storage and documentation of the seeds of different crops.



Minimum Qualification



Minimum Bachelor's degree in any branch of Plant Science/Agriculture/Horticulture or related disciplines. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience (one year for Master's) in growing and maintaining plants, preferably in greenhouse/nethouses/field conditions.

Expected Skills



Thorough knowledge and experience in plant growing methodologies. Experience in the germination of seeds, planting, irrigation, fertilization, insecticide/fungicide application, weeding, pruning, cleaning, transplanting, and maintenance of various crop plants. Experience in plant propagation techniques such as grafting, budding, layering, etc., and also pollination. Experience in handling transgenic/genome-edited plants, their maintenance, and disposal of genetically modified plants as per the biosafety regulations. Ability to properly use the tools in farming. REQUIREMENTS This position is physically demanding, and the applicant is capable to lift or move 50 kilograms when needed and function in physical positions such as stooping, bending, turning, twisting, walking, reaching, and squatting. The applicant should not be allergic to dust, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and the regular stuff used in growing plants. Proficiency in speaking English and Arabic is highly preferred
