ABOUT THE ROLELiberty Speciality Steels have an opportunity to join our Rotherham Steel & Bar business unit as Reporting, Controls & Systems Accountant, reporting into the Finance Director for Rotherham Steel & Bar.Rotherham Steel & Bar is comprised of a steelmaking and casting facility, a rolling mill and two bright bar processing facilities. In addition, there are engineering workshops, selling and administrative departments, and a flux blending facility. The manufacturing assets serve a broad range of internal and external customers, with accreditation to supply into multiple market sectors. There is a wide product offering from carbon steels through to grades for the aerospace industry.The Reporting, Controls & Systems Accountant will generate monthly management accounts, and supporting reports, that effectively communicate the performance of the Rotherham Steel & Bar business unit. They will also develop internal controls, business intelligence reports, and systems to improve the level of financial reporting in the Business. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPreparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statementsConsolidation of business unit results into a RS&B resultReview, analysis, and reporting of the RS&B monthly profit and loss resultSupply of information to enable the conversion of management accounts to statutory formatActual v plan variance reporting on financials and key physical metricsReconciliation of general ledger accounts, to the agreed frequencyMonthly balance sheet review, and analysis, reporting of reconciliation differences and issuesDevelopment and update of standard costs for use in monthly stock valuationReview and development of internal controls for asset protection and accurate financial reportingReview of reporting requirements and the development of reports using a variety of data sources, including Business Intelligence software solutionsDevelopment of systems to fix existing configuration, process, and master data problemsDevelopment of systems to enhance existing functionalityCollaborate with non finance colleagues to identify root cause of complex problems that manifest in the financial data that drives the financial result and reports Supply of data to external auditors and respond to questionsSupervision, and performance management of the RS&B Financial Accounting sectionAnalysis of historical financial information to assist the Finance Business PartnersKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIREDGraduate with recognised professional qualification (Industry or Practice) e.g., CIMA or ACCA.Top 4 accounting firm background an advantage3 or more years post qualification experienceConstruction of financial statements, P&L account, balance sheet, and cash flowIFRS & GAAPStatutory reporting requirementsExperience of systems implementations and development of ERP system functionalityAccounting consolidationInternal financial controls Ability to manage and intelligently analyse large volumes of dataFinancial modelling and high level of proficiency with spreadsheetsAble to communicate with colleagues at all levels in the organisationAbility to review a business process, identify weaknesses and options to address the problem, and deploy the chosen solution BENEFITS35 days annual holidayGenerous pension schemePrivate Medical InsuranceLife AssuranceIncome Protection
