Job Summary

The role has responsibility for the delivery of safe, cost effective, competitive and timely marine services to the region. Effectively manages the operations, technical and procurement departments and provides strategic direction. Leads and manages all country operations applicable.

General Area of Responsibility

Reporting to the Region Managing Director and based at the Svitzer AMEA Regional Office in Dubai, UAE where a lean and flat structure as well as the mindset of autonomy creates a performance driven culture with significant independence to impact the position and ultimately the performance of the company.

Responsible for the performance and execution of four departments covering Marine Operations, Procurement, Technical, and the People Performance Management of the roles directly reporting to the Regional COO to ensure functional excellence and support for the front line businesses as well as the specialist skills required to develop business case solutions for new projects.

Owner of a significant part of the overall P&L for the region, including optimizing and synergizing across operations ensuring increased ownership advantages by use of world class planning, leadership skills and innovative thinking.

As a highly exposed and impactful leadership role, Responsible for close collaboration with the Commercial, Finance and Human Resources departments ensuring transparency across multiple functions at the Regional and Country Level of the organisation. Key for the roles success is to build strong relations internally and take an active interest in building strong connections with existing and new customers. Role is highly exposed and requires strong external focus as industry spokesperson promoting innovations and industrial agendas.

Specific Areas of Responsibility-

Deliver a service orientated support focus to the region\'s frontline businesses and its reliability.

As a close collaborator, support the Regional Managing Director and Cluster MDs in the management of Svitzer AMEA Contract Managers of country level operations whilst delivering clear and strategic initiatives to staying ahead of customer needs.

Effective internal stakeholder management with HQ in Copenhagen and with other regional COO\'s to proactively support the global operations strategy and priorities for Svitzer.

Overall responsibility for the success of regional Procurement, Technical and Fleet Management.

Accountability for the delivery of safe, cost effective, competitive, and timely marine services to clients through use of indirect leadership skills and world class planning and execution.

Be the promoter of best practice standards for towage operations, including development of operations manuals. Develop and maintain superior operational knowledge within the department, including fleet management, operational manuals and technical and safety knowledge. Set targets and follow up on operational, technical and safety performance.

Ensure that all relevant flag- and registry requirements are being met by the Svitzer AMEA fleet. Ensuring that fleet investments and operational capabilities are scaled to match the Regional strategy.

Lead change management projects, both operational and strategic, with a special focus on implementation of new business. Challenge the existing organization in way of doing things to identify and execute on improvement opportunities.

Effectively collaborate with Regional CCO and the commercial team on tender preparation and execution and management of key client stakeholders on a regional and local level in support of the Svitzer commercial strategy.

Lead the implementation of innovative digitization and data driven approaches to technical and marine operations in AMEA. Support the global data strategy by using AMEA operations as a testing ground for new systems, ways of working and specific case scenario learnings.

Leading the decarbonization strategy across the AMEA fleet and operations and contributing to how we can create value for our customers. Ownership of fleet optimization of assets with definitive targets and KPI\'s for fuel consumption, energy efficiency, carbon footprint and GHG emissions.

Engaging with senior client and external stakeholders including O&G Majors senior/executive management and national authorities to advance the commercial strategy of Svitzer.

Maintain up to date and be the leadership reference point for industry market intelligence and analysis, competition capabilities and capacity, new business ventures and towage industry innovations. Drive continuous improvements, standardization and best practices across business units.

Reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of goods and services (incl non-technical) for Svitzer AMEA and maintain oversight of country/company level P&L as well as formulating regional operating budgets and forecasting.

Board member representation for companies operating within the responsibility of Svitzer AMEA Region.

Qualifications and Experience required

Preference Master\'s degree/ MBA in a business discipline or Maritime Science

Minimum 10 - 15 years extensive experience in asset heavy operational management in Maritime Industry

Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Maritime Law and Business Practices

Proven experience and ability to influence at board level & with internal senior stakeholders

High level of financial management knowledge and analytical capacity. Structured and data driven, and well versed at driving this into the business

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with a diverse international group of people at a broad range of levels

Strong understanding of change management and the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure

Detailed understanding of the various links with other functional areas. Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and promote a team environment to meet objectives.

Develops people - coaching and mentoring to build organizational capability, talent and bench strength.

Essential Needs/ Requirements

Fluency in both oral and written English

Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong communicator, good negotiating and solid presentation skills

Travel commitment in a role requiring regular global travel and flexibility with potential disruption to standard office hours, often at short notice, expecting a minimum of 60 days per year.
