Job Description

The Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supporting the operations of refrigeration systems, and ensuring continuous, efficient, and safe functioning of related equipment. The role requires technical proficiency in refrigeration systems, including ammonia-based systems, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team under the guidance of the Refrigeration Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations and Maintenance

Carry out Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) tasks as per schedules and instructions. Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and perform repair work on refrigeration equipment, including ammonia screw compressors, evaporative condensers, glycol pumps, compressed air systems, and snow-making systems. Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety standards and maintenance checklists. Provide timely updates of Work Orders (WO) including labor hours, parts used, and completion notes in the CMMS. Monitor equipment performance and inform the Supervisor of any abnormalities or critical spare requirements.

Technical Support

Interpret and work with schematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals. Assist in commissioning, testing, and tuning of refrigeration and cooling systems. Participate in plant shutdowns, system upgrades, and improvement projects as directed. Follow SOPs and adhere to industry best practices in all maintenance and engineering tasks.

Team Collaboration

Coordinate with other technicians and assist in resolving complex technical issues. Share knowledge and support less experienced technicians as needed. Maintain professional communication with contractors and service providers during maintenance or upgrade works.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

BE, B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Refrigeration

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of refrigeration systems and components Ability to interpret engineering drawings and diagrams Familiar with CMMS and maintenance documentation practices Working knowledge of industrial ammonia systems is a must Proficient in use of SCADA

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in refrigeration maintenance within GCC Hands-on experience with ammonia screw compressors, glycol systems, and industrial cooling systems is highly preferred
