Our global HR department has specialist teams in Recruitment, Early Careers Recruitment and Development, Learning and Development, Operations, Systems and MI and Reward. We work as one team to deliver a holistic service to our fee earning and business services groups across our network.

The Recruitment Manager role is a key part of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) HR team with the aim of facilitating the recruitment of suitably qualified and experienced, fee earner (qualified and non-qualified), business services, and early careers candidates across our MEA offices. You will be responsible for driving and championing the global and regional recruitment strategy, particularly in respect of Emiratisation and Saudization.

As part of your role, you will also manage the Dubai based Emiratisation team.

It is essential that you can travel as required for work, including to Saudi Arabia, which is a strong growth focus for the Firm. It is anticipated that you will spend upwards of 25% of your time in Saudi Arabia, perhaps more as our presence continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a trusted source of current information and intelligence related to recruitment market trends, salary data and challenges.
  • As a representative of the firm in the market, to always maintain a very professional manner across every single interaction.
  • Ensure that each recruitment experience is a positive one for candidates, agencies, and internal stakeholders, regardless of outcome.
  • Adhere to all internal recruitment procedures and requirements, including (but not limited to) recruitment requisition sign-off, production of up-to-date job descriptions, salary benchmarking, and guidance regarding interview questions and assessments, prior to the commencement of any recruitment.
  • Champion fair selection criteria and interview procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and other internal stakeholders throughout the entire recruitment process.
  • Ensure high levels of communication are maintained so that expectations and priorities are efficiently managed.
  • Proactively encourage direct applicants through internal and external referrals and by maximizing social media and other relevant platforms, especially LinkedIn.
  • Develop and maintain lists of potentially suitable fee earner and business services candidates (through networking, previous applications, LinkedIn, the media, and other search mechanisms) for roles that may arise in the future.
  • Develop strong, trusted relationships with key recruitment agencies to be used where warranted, including facilitating agency briefings with hiring managers, as appropriate.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of our preferred supplier agencies (PSL) and ensure communication, relationships, and quality of service are consistently maintained.
  • Ensure that nationalization is at the forefront of hiring decisions.
  • Drive recruitment nationalization campaigns in the UAE and KSA in conjunction with our Nationalization Manager and ensure that the requirements of B-BBEE are met in South Africa.
  • Understand the requirements to live and work in each of the territories and ensure that candidates have the necessary documentation as part of the screening process.
  • For lawyers, understand the different qualification routes and jurisdictions to provide guidance on level of qualification and salary.
  • Ensure all recruitment, new joiner and onboarding documentation is completed by the HR Shared Services team.
  • Manage all documents related to the recruitment process, including the creation of generic job descriptions.
  • Maintain up to date information for regular management reporting via the ATS (applicant tracking system) and Excel.
  • Attend in-house and other relevant training to ensure best practice approaches are being undertaken and that legal commitments are being delivered.
  • Actively contribute to and support ad hoc resourcing projects from time to time.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven, solid, consistent in-house (law firm or professional services) and/or agency legal recruitment experience is essential.
  • Experience of working in one or more of our Middle East territories is an advantage.
  • First rate sourcing ability preferably gained LinkedIn Recruiter, and other tools, like Pirical.
  • Articulate and confident team player with the desire to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The drive to work consistently hard to deliver the best possible talent for each role across fee earners and business services in a timely, professional, and communicative way.
  • An enthusiastic and proactive attitude with a supportive, client delivery focused work ethic.
  • The ability to work effectively across all levels of our business and to interchange between different styles of communication depending on the circumstance.
  • Strong interviewing, commercial understanding, interpersonal, communication (oral and written), time and deadline management, planning, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience managing and mentoring people is an advantage.
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility over all work undertaken with a commitment to supporting the wider needs of a project and not just the immediate task.
  • Excellent IT administration with previous experience using an ATS (applicant tracking system, for example CVMail) and Excel.
  • Fluent English.
  • Written and spoken Arabic is a definite advantage (but is not essential).
