What does an Estate Agent do? Estate Agents use their knowledge of real estate laws and local areas to sell properties or homes that best fit the budgets and needs of their clients. Working under a Real Estate Broker, an Estate Agent earns a portion of the commission from the sale of a property. Estate Agents often have to travel and work irregular schedules. They may sometimes work on evenings, weekends, Chrsitmas time or on bank holidays, especially when they host open houses or when they meet with clients. Estate Agent skills and qualifications A successful Estate Agent candidate stays current with the latest local property listings, market activity and industry news. They have active listening skills and must strive to understand the needs of their clients. They will also have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that typically include:
- Determination, confidence and charisma
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Marketing skills to sell properties at the right price
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills
