Job Description

A Resident Engineer (Electrical Cables) supervises the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical cable systems on a construction project, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards. They manage site activities, resolve technical issues, and maintain quality control records.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Oversight:

Supervise the installation of electrical cable systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Testing and Commissioning:

Witness and verify the testing and commissioning of cable systems and related equipment to ensure proper functionality and performance.

Technical Compliance:

Ensure all electrical cable work complies with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct inspections, perform quality checks, and maintain records of all electrical cable installations, including test reports and as-built drawings.

Issue Resolution:

Identify and resolve on-site technical issues related to cable installations, coordinating with other teams as needed.

Progress Monitoring:

Monitor the progress of cable installation against the project schedule and report on any deviations or delays.

Documentation:

Prepare and maintain comprehensive records of all electrical cable work, including FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) reports, test results, and as-built documentation.

Coordination:

Coordinate with other disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical) to ensure seamless integration of electrical cable systems.

Reporting:

Prepare regular reports on the progress, quality, and any issues related to the electrical cable systems.

Contract Compliance:

Ensure the contractor's work complies with contractual obligations, including quality, specifications, and timely completion.

Deviation Management:

Identify and address any deviations from approved designs and promptly escalate them to the appropriate parties.

Resource Management:

May be involved in managing resources (materials, equipment, personnel) related to electrical cable work.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
