Significant customer interface component with ability to lead research programs. Manages medium to high level projects without direct people management responsibilities.Key Responsibilities: Development of innovative proposals for safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of nuclear power plant, specifically work associated with protection of workers and the public from radiological hazards. Execution of projects and tasks in collaboration with industry subject matter experts, contractors, and vendors to develop practical guidance and to bring new technologies into field application associated with radiation protection, ALARA planning, low dose radiation health effects, and/or source term reduction in nuclear power plants. Support nuclear power plant staff and managers with the application of EPRI radiation safety technologies and guidance including responding to radiation protection related issues.Develop and deliver technical presentations on in-progress and completed R&D results to audiences with varying technical backgrounds Maintain collaborations with international utilities and radiation protection organizations. International travel to support above tasks and technology transfer with utilities, other nuclear power related organizations, vendors, and subject matter expert collaborators. Ideal Candidate:An ideal candidate in this role will have the necessary technical and operational background and soft skills to be successful in execution of the above tasks and broadly efforts related to nuclear power operation.In addition to the technical skills listed as duties and responsibilities, a significant portion of this role is communication of known radiation safety related experience from around the world, EPRI research results related to radiation safety best practices and technology applications and working on cross-functional teams. Ideal candidates will also be comfortable speakers with deep knowledge of radiation protection in nuclear power plants. Although not required, there is increased possibilities of expanding collaborative opportunities for candidates with working knowledge of chemistry control, low and intermediate level waste management, groundwater and environmental protection, effluents management, and/or decommissioning and remediation. Additional Job Information:Education:Advanced degree in science/engineering or equivalent experience required Skills & Abilities:10-15 or more years of research and development project and promotional experience, including development of advanced concepts or equivalent experience. Ability to recognize strategic issues and projects and build collaborative and successfully complete projects. Experience in successful proposal preparation, and marketing activities. Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives using creative imaginative solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Continuing to increase depth/breadth in multiple technical areas and recognized as a subject matter expert Individual contributor EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
