Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze project cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow projections for steel construction projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from architectural and engineering drawings to determine material quantities and labor requirements.
  • Source and negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive bids for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Monitor project expenditures, track costs against budgets, and identify any variances or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to forecast project costs and provide regular updates on financial performance.
  • Review and validate contractor payment applications, change orders, and invoices for accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports, cost reports, and financial analyses to support project decision-making and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and value engineering assessments to optimize project profitability and efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes affecting construction costs and procurement practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field. Master\'s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on steel structures and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs, particularly related to steel constructions.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimations.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Familiarity with UAE construction regulations, standards, and procurement practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Professional accreditation or certification in quantity surveying is preferred.
