QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER
Job Title: Quality Assurance Officer
Department: Quality Control / Assurance
Reports To: Quality Manager / Project Manager
Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Quality Assurance Officer is focused on preventing defects and ensuring that all processes and deliverables consistently meet or exceed project specifications, customer requirements, and relevant standards. The role involves systematic process monitoring, auditing, and documentation to ensure quality is built into every stage of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality System Management:

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Develop and update project-specific Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and method statements.
  • Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits by clients and certification bodies.
Process & Product Verification:
  • Perform regular inspections of materials, components, and finished work to ensure they conform to drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Witness and verify critical tests (e.g., concrete slump tests, compressive strength tests, weld tests, pressure tests).
  • Review and approve material submittals, mill certificates, and material test reports.
  • Ensure all measuring and test equipment is calibrated and valid.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action:
  • Identify, document, and report any non-conforming products or processes through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Lead and coordinate the root cause analysis for quality failures.
  • Verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage the hold points as defined in the ITP, ensuring no work proceeds without proper authorization.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
  • Maintain comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports, test reports, audit reports, and NCR logs.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is accurately completed and readily available for review.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly quality performance reports, highlighting trends, issues, and achievements.
Collaboration & Training:
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and supervisors to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Provide quality awareness training to site staff and subcontractors.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence across the project.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification as a ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a QA/QC role within the construction, manufacturing, or engineering sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and international standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM, BS, EN).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
