Conduct inspections of steel structure fabrication, assembly, erection, and installation at site and/or fabrication yard.
Review and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) for structural steel, bolts, nuts, and welding consumables.
Inspect and verify fit-up, alignment, and welding activities as per WPS/PQR and drawings.
Monitor welding procedures, preheat, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), and welder qualifications.
Check bolted and welded connections during and after erection.
Raise and follow up on Inspection Requests (IRs), Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Witness NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) like PT, MT, UT, and RT and ensure compliance with codes and acceptance criteria.
Coordinate with third-party inspectors, consultants, and main contractors for joint inspections.
Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation and reports including inspection logs, welding logs, NDT reports, and punch lists.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all stages of steel works.
Requirements:
Diploma/bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
Strong knowledge of international codes (AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME, ISO, ASTM, BS).
Familiar with welding procedures (WPS/PQR), NDT techniques, and visual inspection.
Proficient in reading and interpreting steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication details.
Certification in CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2, AWS-CWI, or equivalent is preferred.
Familiarity with QA/QC processes, documentation, and reporting tools.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
