QA/QC Engineer
Job Title: QA/QC Engineer
Department: Quality Assurance / Project Management
Reports To: Project Manager / Quality Manager
Summary:
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all materials, processes, and final deliverables of the project meet the specified quality standards, codes, and client requirements. This role involves the development and implementation of quality plans, conducting inspections, managing non-conformances, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to prevent defects and ensure project excellence.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality System Management:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001), project specifications, and statutory regulations.
  • Inspection & Testing:
  • Conduct routine and mandatory inspections at various stages of construction/manufacturing (Incoming, In-Process, Final).
  • Witness and monitor mechanical, electrical, civil, and welding activities.
  • Review material certifications, calibration records of equipment, and qualifications of personnel (e.g., welders, NDT technicians).
  • Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and client representatives.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive quality records, including inspection reports (IR), checklists, test reports, and certificates.
  • Prepare and submit Material Inspection Reports (MIRs) and ensure proper documentation for handover (dossiers).
  • Manage the document control system for all project quality documents.
  • Non-Conformance & Corrective Action:
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming products or processes through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
  • Manage the quarantine and disposition of non-conforming items.
  • Auditing:
  • Conduct internal quality audits of processes and suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Facilitate external audits by clients or certification bodies and ensure audit findings are addressed.
  • Collaboration & Training:
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and construction supervisors to resolve quality issues.
  • Provide quality awareness training to site personnel on quality procedures and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • Certification: Professional certification (e.g., CQI & IRCA Lead Auditor, AWS/CWI for welding, NDT Level II) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a QA/QC role within construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, or infrastructure.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading technical drawings, codes, and standards. Strong knowledge of quality control principles and testing methodologies.
  • Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and report-writing abilities. Must be assertive and principled.
