Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors and identify new suppliers

Coordinate with internal departments to meet project and operational requirements
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
Job Summary:
The Purchasing Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for marine, oil, and gas operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery to support offshore and onshore projects.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for marine, oilfield, and gas industry equipment (e.g., valves, pipes, pumps, safety gear, vessel parts).
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring reliability and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
  • Procurement Process:
  • Review and process purchase requisitions from operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
  • Prepare RFQs (Request for Quotations), RFPs (Request for Proposals), and purchase orders.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to minimize costs while meeting quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations (e.g., API, ISO, SOLAS), and HSE standards.
  • Inventory & Logistics:
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder critical spare parts and consumables.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams for timely delivery, including international shipping and customs clearance.
  • Track orders and resolve delays or discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Cost Control & Reporting:
  • Analyze market trends and pricing to optimize procurement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare cost reports and budget forecasts for management.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all purchased items meet technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and vendor reliability.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer in marine, oil, and gas industries.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific materials, equipment, and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and inventory systems.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of international trade, Incoterms, and logistics for offshore operations.
  • Certifications (e.g., CSCP, CIPS) are a plus.
Work Environment:
  • Office-based with occasional visits to ports, warehouses, or supplier facilities.
  • May require coordination across different time zones for global suppliers.
