Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Purchasing Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, supplies, and services in accordance with the company's policies and standards. This role ensures timely and cost-effective procurement while maintaining high-quality standards and supporting business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and review purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness. Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure best price, quality, and delivery terms. Prepare and issue purchase orders and follow up on deliveries. Negotiate with vendors for optimal pricing and terms. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery timelines. Coordinate with the finance department on invoice processing and payment. Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of inventory. Assist in evaluating supplier performance and maintaining the approved vendor list. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures. Work closely with internal departments to understand purchasing needs. Track orders and resolve any issues related to shortages, damages, or delays.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. Proven experience as a Purchasing Officer or in a similar procurement role. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management. Proficiency in MS Office and purchasing software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.). Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices. Analytical skills for comparing prices and evaluating suppliers. Experience in handling international purchases (if applicable).
