The Purchasing Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services to meet the organization's operational requirements. This includes supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, cost analysis, and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials. The role requires attention to detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Source reliable suppliers and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Request and evaluate quotations to obtain the best value for goods and services.
Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
Track and monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of goods.
Coordinate with internal departments to determine purchasing needs and specifications.
Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends and pricing.
Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, delivery, and payment terms.
Resolve issues related to delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role (2+ years preferred).
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (e.g., ERP systems).
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
Knowledge of local and international procurement regulations.
