The Purchase Manager - Frozen Foods is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, packaging, and finished frozen food products while ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and uninterrupted supply. The role involves supplier management, inventory planning, cost control, and compliance with food safety and cold-chain requirements.
Source and evaluate suppliers of frozen food products, raw materials, packaging, and additives
Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules
Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure consistent quality and supply
Identify alternative suppliers to reduce risk and improve cost efficiency
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Plan and manage inventory levels to meet production and sales demands
Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure cold-chain integrity
Monitor lead times and ensure timely delivery of frozen goods
Minimize wastage, spoilage, and stock-outs
Quality & Compliance
Ensure purchased products comply with food safety standards (HACCP, FSSAI/USDA/EU regulations as applicable)
Work closely with Quality Assurance teams on supplier audits and product specifications
Ensure proper documentation for traceability and regulatory compliance
Cost Control & Reporting
Analyze market trends, seasonal availability, and price fluctuations
Prepare purchase budgets and track cost savings
Generate purchase reports, supplier performance reviews, and inventory analysis
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with Production, Sales, Quality, and Finance teams
Support new product development by sourcing new ingredients or suppliers
Resolve supply issues and manage emergency procurement when required
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Technology, or related field
5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably in frozen foods, FMCG, or food processing
Strong knowledge of cold-chain logistics and food safety standards
Experience with ERP/MRP systems
