Pump Operator (Concrete Pump Operator - Boom Pump)
Job Title: Pump Operator (Concrete Boom Pump Operator)
Reports To: Dispatch Manager / Pump Manager
Summary: The Pump Operator is responsible for the safe setup, operation, and breakdown of a truck-mounted concrete boom pump. They work directly with customers to place concrete precisely where needed on a construction site.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a thorough inspection of the boom pump truck and all its systems (hydraulic, mechanical, outriggers, boom) before operation.
• Drive the pump truck to the job site and assess the area for safe setup (overhead hazards, ground stability, proximity to excavations).
• Set up the truck's outriggers and stabilizers on stable ground to create a fully level and secure platform.
• Operate the boom pump's remote control to extend the articulated boom and place concrete accurately as directed by the customer.
• Monitor pump pressure and operation constantly, communicating with the mixer drivers to ensure a steady flow of concrete.
• Perform routine maintenance on the pump, including greasing, cleaning lines, and inspecting for wear.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on the pump system on-site.
• Lead the pump crew (Pump Helper) to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Complete all necessary paperwork, including pre-trip logs and service tickets.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or A.
• Several years of experience operating a concrete boom pump.
• Certified as a Pump Operator (e.g., ACPA certification) is a major plus.
• In-depth knowledge of pump mechanics and hydraulics.
• Exceptional spatial awareness and coordination for maneuvering the boom.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to direct the crew and interact with customers.
• Commitment to safety protocols and risk assessment.
