Purpose: Will include purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. Responsible for planning, managing, selecting and purchasing goods and merchandise goods that are sold in retail stores. Responsible for processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. Work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. Identifying and meeting suitable suppliers/manufacturers. Negotiating prices, quantities and delivery time-scales. Research, select and purchase quality products and materials. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing. Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality etc. and determine the best choices. Discover and purchase new products and check the quality and popularity of those already on our shelves. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders. Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels. Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery. Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions. Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required. Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management. Review existing stores' product offerings. Make suggestions for new product offerings based on consumer research. Perform consumer research to determine product demand. Examine promotion details and resolve any pricing discrepancies if needed. Provide all the needed information on products, their prices and promotion. Any other task to be performed per the direction of the line manager and the senior management. Minimum Educational Criteria and Related Work Experience: Graduation in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration. 2 to 3 years of experience in leading hypermarket/supermarket in UAE. Understanding the buying process and procurement/supply chain functions. Excellent contract management and administration skills. Proficient in common computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a commercial drive. Team player and willingness to support the wider team.
