Project Manager (Mechanical)

Reports To: Director of Projects / Operations Manager
Experience: Minimum 12 Years (with proven experience in Industrial Projects)
Job Summary
The Mechanical Project Manager holds ultimate responsibility for the successful delivery of large-scale mechanical projects or the mechanical scope of multi-disciplinary industrial projects. This senior role requires a blend of deep mechanical engineering knowledge and exceptional project and business management skills. You will be the primary point of contact for the client and will lead a team of engineers, designers, and contractors to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Strategy:
• Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and critical success factors in consultation with the client and senior management.
• Develop and maintain the overall project execution plan, including detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Lead the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Financial Management:
• Prepare and manage the project budget, ensuring rigorous cost control and forecasting.
• Identify, track, and manage project risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Manage project invoicing, change orders, and claims, ensuring the company's commercial interests are protected.
• Stakeholder & Client Management:
• Serve as the primary client interface, building and maintaining strong relationships, and providing regular progress reports.
• Lead project meetings, including kick-off, design reviews, and progress meetings with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Execution & Delivery:
• Oversee the entire project lifecycle: feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
• Ensure all mechanical engineering deliverables meet technical, quality, and safety requirements.
• Manage procurement and fabrication activities, ensuring equipment and materials meet specifications and are delivered on schedule.
• Oversee on-site construction and commissioning activities, prioritizing safety and quality.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration is an asset.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in engineering and project management.
• Must have a proven track record of managing large-scale mechanical packages for industrial projects (e.g., full plant mechanical systems, major process unit installations, complex material handling systems).
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience with project management methodologies, tools, and contract administration (e.g., Lump Sum, Cost-Plus, T&M).
