This position is located in our New York, NY, Boston, MA, Austin, TX, office, or remote. Macmillan Learning is seeking a Program Director to lead the premier Psychology list and team by transforming how we deliver compelling educational content to our customers. The Program Director leads the strategic and financial planning for the list, including determining potential new models, channels, or partnerships needed to enable digital pedagogy. This role will maintain and build on the list's reputation for high-quality content and close alignment with best practices in the discipline. The ideal candidate embraces experimentation, challenges assumptions within traditional business models, can execute a test-and-learn approach to product development, and is energized by cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in Product, Marketing, and Sales.As the Program Director for Psychology, you will be responsible for understanding the changing needs of our customers and the digital landscape of publishing, driving the vision and direction, and defining and delivering business objectives and growth. The Program Director is a role model of key leadership qualities focused around success: collaboration, communication, curiosity and creativity. In this role, you will lead and influence through through partnership with cross-functional teams. You will have the chance to work with our successful editorial team, author team, and collaborate with other innovators across Macmillan Learning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Serve as Psychology product leader, driving product planning and business strategies; manage the budgeting process to ensure the financial success of the Psychology list.Represent publishing strategy for the discipline to the Product, Technology, Content Management, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Sales groups. This requires strategic leadership in stakeholder and working groups across divisions at Macmillan Learning.Lead the Psychology team in product innovation; design and test new business models in collaboration with Finance, Marketing, and Product partners. Lead market research that identifies content and assessment needs in order to grow customer adoption and engagement. Manage, through training and development, a team of excellent Program Managers responsible for the health of the Psychology portfolio, working closely with Development, Media, and Assessment editors responsible for content quality and course design. Manage a subset of titles within the overall discipline portfolio, including direct management of the budget, strategy, and digital program, setting schedules, and leading a project team. Build relationships with authors and thought leaders to ensure the success of the Psychology list. Promote the implementation of Macmillan's standards and guidelines on creating accessible, diverse, equitable, and inclusive content to ensure all students have a successful experience learning from new and legacy material. Travel to campuses and conferences, and participate in virtual events as necessary, in order to build relationships, conduct market research, deepen understanding of the discipline's research, and support sales and marketing efforts.
