Job Description

A Production Line Supervisor in the packaging and labeling industry plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and quality-driven operation of the production line. Here are their key roles and responsibilities:

1. Production Planning and Scheduling:



Develop and execute daily/weekly production schedules:

Based on demand, material availability, and machine capacity, create detailed plans for packaging and labeling operations.

Allocate resources:

Assign personnel, equipment, and materials to specific tasks to optimize workflow.

Monitor progress:

Track production output against targets and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines.

2. Team Leadership and Management:



Supervise and coordinate a team of operators:

Provide direction, guidance, and support to packaging and labeling machine operators and other line personnel.

Train and onboard new employees:

Ensure all team members are properly trained on equipment operation, safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.

Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback:

Assess employee performance, identify areas for improvement, and foster professional development.

Promote teamwork and positive morale:

Encourage collaboration and a productive work environment.

Address personnel issues:

Resolve conflicts, disciplinary matters, and employee concerns in a fair and timely manner.

3. Quality Assurance and Control:



Enforce quality standards:

Ensure all packaged and labeled products meet company specifications, customer requirements, and industry regulations (e.g., GMP for cosmetics/pharmaceuticals).

Conduct in-process quality checks:

Regularly inspect products for defects (e.g., fill level, label placement, seal integrity, coding accuracy).

Investigate and resolve quality issues:

Identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain quality documentation:

Ensure all quality records are accurate and up-to-date.

4. Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement:



Monitor line performance:

Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, downtime, waste, and efficiency.

Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies:

Analyze processes to find areas for improvement and implement solutions to optimize workflow and reduce costs.

Troubleshoot machine malfunctions:

Work with operators to diagnose and resolve minor equipment issues, and coordinate with maintenance for major repairs.

Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles:

Drive initiatives for continuous improvement, waste reduction, and process optimization.

Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

Ensure clear, concise, and up-to-date procedures are available and followed by all team members.

5. Safety and Compliance:



Ensure a safe working environment:

Implement and enforce all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices.

Conduct safety training and awareness programs:

Educate employees on safe equipment operation, material handling, and emergency procedures.

Investigate accidents and near misses:

Identify causes and implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.

Maintain compliance with regulatory standards:

Adhere to all relevant industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, FDA, local health and safety regulations).

6. Inventory and Material Management:



Monitor material flow:

Ensure timely delivery of raw materials (bottles, labels, caps, product) to the production line.

Manage inventory levels:

Coordinate with warehouse and procurement to ensure adequate stock of packaging materials.

Minimize material waste:

Implement strategies to reduce scrap and optimize material usage.

7. Documentation and Reporting:



Maintain accurate production records:

Document daily output, downtime, quality issues, material usage, and other relevant data.

Generate performance reports:

Prepare regular reports for management on production status, efficiency, quality metrics, and challenges.

Communicate effectively:

Serve as a liaison between the production team and upper management, as well as other departments (e.g., quality assurance, maintenance, logistics).

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
