Job Title:

Production Chemist

The Production Chemist plays a dual role in managing

production

and ensuring

quality control

across the manufacturing process. This includes compounding, in-process testing, raw material evaluation, and final product testing to ensure all perfume batches meet internal standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Bulk Production:

Prepare and compound fragrance batches as per approved formulations and batch manufacturing records (BMR). Handle and weigh raw materials (essential oils, aroma chemicals, solvents, and additives) with precision. Operate blending and mixing equipment, ensuring process parameters (temperature, speed, mixing time) are followed. Monitor in-process parameters and make necessary adjustments to ensure batch consistency. Transfer bulk fragrance oils (juices) to storage or filling areas post-approval from QC.

Quality Control & Testing

Raw Material Testing:

Inspect and test incoming raw materials for identity, purity, and conformity with specifications. Maintain raw material Certificate of Analysis and approve or reject based on analysis.

In-Process Testing:

Conduct organoleptic testing (odor evaluation), visual inspection (clarity, color), and physical tests (density, refractive index, alcohol strength) during mixing. Record results and inform relevant departments of any deviations.

Finished Product Testing:

Analyze finished fragrance batches (juices) for compliance with specifications before release. Ensure batch-to-batch consistency in terms of smell, appearance, and physicochemical parameters. Collaborate with the QC Manager for retention sampling and long-term stability monitoring.
Maintain detailed documentation of all QC activities, including test results, deviations, corrective actions, and approvals.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related field. 2-5 years of experience in

perfume, fragrance, or cosmetic manufacturing

, especially in production and QC functions. Hands-on experience in raw material testing, perfume compounding, and in-process quality control. Familiarity with testing equipment
