An exciting opportunity as a Product Manager to join our Air & Sea in our Dubai branch. To act as a Key Market Specialist on Specific Trade Lanes, driving volume and profitable growth across our MENA region. The role requires a strong understanding of freight forwarding, proven sales expertise and the ability to cooperate cross functionally.
This position will be responsible for maintaining and growing our Air & Sea market share on the APAC and ISC tradelanes (both inbound and outbound), and to build sound relationships with the DSV overseas offices. Furthermore, to identify and build a product that will help DSV grow our volumes and profits for the assigned trade lanes according to region/country strategies and targets.

Responsibilities: Growth and development
  • Performs market intelligence activities (collect and report) covering pricing, market positioning, service development and prospect identification.
  • Works closely with trade lane partners, establish trade lane development teams and develop a robust Trade Lane Development Plan.
  • Identify and secure major target accounts in close collaboration with the commercial teams in region or country, and monitor development through CRM.
  • Join customer activities with the commercial teams.
  • Support the commercial organization in the transition of new accounts into operations, customer service and overseas network.
  • Plan and monitor annual volume targets for the year, per trade lane.
  • Identifies independently or in support from Strategic Management team/regional/global / product teams, new business opportunities and support to convert opportunities into revenue.
  • Quarterly KPI review of trade lane performance / target – results delivered monthly to senior management
  • Create local/regional awareness of trade lane, branding products, establish sales kits, presentations etc.
  • Support in procurement of rates, and act as guide consultant for tenders related to their associated trade lane(s).
  • Support trade lane development by acting as a central point of contact and internal “pipeline coordinator” for all trade lane partners within the assigned geographies.

Network Development
  • Prepares and updates organizational chart for all contacts across regions for the Trade Lane.
  • Ensures that trade lane development teams/counterparts regularly receive updated market information.
  • Ensures that the necessary sales tools are in place to support both local and network partner sales initiatives.
  • Creates business case note for every win and send to the respective region’s/country’s product manager.
  • Plans and performs regular joint sales calls to develop trade lane business opportunities with regional/country commercial teams.

Commercial Planning
  • Develops the Trade Lane Strategy
  • Assists in securing sales-leads for network-controlled business in line with the trade lane development plan.
  • Provide support to operations and commercial team for route specific issues that cannot be resolved locally as a key figure in the escalation process.
  • Ensures competitive pricing though active communication and negotiations with both local suppliers and regional product partners.
  • Assists the local sales team with specific trade lane expertise necessary to identify and unlock opportunities

Communication:
  • Internal – General Managers, Sales Managers, Network offices
  • External – Existing and Target Customers

Qualifications & Characteristics:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Economics/Logistics or freight forwarding
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience from the International Freight Forwarding industry i.e. Sea & Air freight experience
  • Minimum 3 years experiences in a development or sales oriented role, preferred with experience and knowledge on how to manage Trade Lanes
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic and tactical plans, in a large and dynamic sales environment.
  • Knowledgeable of markets & competitors, and about Industry trends & challenges
  • Business Acumen (understands principles and fundamentals of finance and profitability)
  • Must be willing to travel extensively both locally and abroad.
