Role summary
We are on a mission to become one of the strongest \xe2\x80\x9cExperience first\xe2\x80\x9d companies in the region, and we need a Product Designer I to champion the cause. As a Product Designer, you\xe2\x80\x99ll join our passionate, fast-paced Design System team and help create a modular, inclusive system of patterns and guidelines which support all Talabat\xe2\x80\x99s customer-facing products (web/mobile). The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating and maintaining design systems, and helping product designers applying them across Talabat apps and platforms to create consistently delightful user experiences. Additionally, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be a part of interesting product-based projects when needed.

What\xe2\x80\x99s on your Plate?
  • Drives the effort for creating, building and documenting the design system
  • Working closely with our product designers, craft components with your creativity and mastery of layout, typography, iconography, colour theory and composition
  • Specify core UX, visual, interaction and motion elements, create prototypes, document usage guidelines and create libraries for design teams to use
  • Evangelize the design system company-wide as a platform that supports our business, brand and product team in creating the best possible user experience
  • Cultivate internal knowledge around the design system by serving as a subject matter expert to contributing teams who are building additions to the design system
  • Use collaborative skills to facilitate the adoption of the design system and ensure the best outcome for stakeholders
  • Uncover unmet needs from customers, product design teams and engineering stakeholders and identify opportunities to make the design system more powerful and usable
  • Partner with engineers as they build and ship components
  • Run lightweight usability testing on new components
  • Own and execute across all phases of design work: research, conceptual design, prototyping, detailed design, usability testing, and implementation for special product projects
  • Use a variety of metrics to evaluate and continuously improve the user experience
  • Continuously improve design processes, knowledge, and tools to measurably enhance productivity and product quality
  • Regularly present your work to peers and leaders for review and feedback
    What Did We Order?
    • Preferably a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Fine Arts/Design/Marketing/Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia graphics
    • Minimum 1-2 years of full-time UX & UI design experience in an agile consumer-focused, high-performance organizations
    • 1-year experience working with a design system as a contributor or in a design system team working on a UI library
    • Have a great eye for detail, colour usage, typography, iconography and layout
    • A portfolio of work that showcases world-class UI design
    • Extraordinary ability to advocate for UI consistency with designers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders through writing, visuals, and presentations
    • Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity and change during a project
      Technologies/Techniques:
      • UI/UX Design and Prototyping Tools (e.g. Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Abstract and similar tools)
      • Familiar with Atomic Design and Components
      • HTML & CSS (for understanding constraints, no coding required)
      • Colour Theory (and implication to accessibility).
