Procurement Specialist

Job Description

Purpose: Procurement Specialist responsibilities include researching new suppliers, ensuring that all purchased products and materials meet our specifications, and negotiating with vendors as needed. Ultimately, you will work with leaders in our organization to understand the needs of our organization and ensure we achieve our supply goals in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies Locate key suppliers and negotiate purchasing agreements with them on behalf of clients to get higher quality goods at the lowest prices possible. Ensures that the company's materials and products meet all of their specifications. Focus on locating suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring that all products and services purchased meet the organization's specifications. Developing and executing our client's global logistics strategy by coordinating with international and domestic logistics suppliers and warehouses to endure finished and semi-finished goods are delivered on time to our client's global operating sites. Ensure Import and Export needs are met by reviewing compliance documentation and ensuring customs compliance. Managing agent/vendor relationships, contract, and performance, and for supporting other business functions as required. Procurement of raw materials and some finished goods for assigned facilities. Perform monthly raw material cycle counts. Interface with shipping coordinator and production manager regularly to assist with systems entries and transfers in the systems. Minimum Educational Criteria and Related Work Experience: Chemical/ Mining Engineering Qualification. 5+ years of experience working procurement department related to explosives products. Proven work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems Experience conducting tracking and data analysis. Hands-on experience in budgeting and purchasing management. Product and inventory management certification a plus. General knowledge and skill with import/export regulations, documentation, and international freight compliance such as customs regulations, documentation requirements and clearance procedures.
