The Procurement Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing laboratory equipment, reagents, consumables, and services required for quality control, R&D, and production support within the food and beverage industry. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and supplier reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement & Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for laboratory equipment, chemicals, testing kits, and consumables.
Manage procurement cycles including RFQs, price comparison, negotiations, and purchase orders.
Ensure timely availability of materials to support QC, QA, and R&D operations.
2. Supplier Management
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and service.
Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits in line with industry standards.
3. Cost & Inventory Control
Optimize procurement costs through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
Work closely with the inventory and laboratory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
4. Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure all purchased items meet regulatory and industry standards (ISO, HACCP, GMP, etc.).
Maintain accurate records of certificates of analysis (COA), MSDS, and other required documents.
Coordinate with QA teams to ensure product quality and supplier compliance.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with QC, QA, R&D, production, and finance teams to understand procurement needs.
Support laboratory operations by ensuring availability of validated and approved materials.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for laboratory procurement.
6. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and supplier reviews.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal procurement policies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of procurement experience, preferably in the food and beverage or laboratory sector.
Strong understanding of laboratory equipment, reagents, chemicals, and testing processes.
Knowledge of procurement systems (ERP, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with F&B industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in ISO-certified laboratories or manufacturing facilities.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
